No groceries - Nothing Open on Sunday

dimanche le 31 août:

Hot 29 degrees again – Finally got some washing done –
The bathroom here stinks, not sure why but it is so primitive – it is gross ! The stench just doesn’t seem to go away. You drench the floor every time you have a shower and the mat is absolutely sodden.

Carte de sojourn – just found out we need to get this, apparently for anyone who stays longer than 6 months – 550 Euros each!!!!

Still have not been to a supermarket and basically everything shut on a Sunday – it is very important to be with your family – had to walk to a little patisserie and buy a baguette and croissant for brunch.
Felt like better do something so headed into town – used the bus for the first time successfully – Much thanks to Margaret who had left us very comprehensive notes! Managed to go on a train in town, wound its way around with a french commentary – not very useful but interesting to get feel for town and layout.
Caught bus home – the conductor hopped on and asked to see tickets – which we showed him – but they were not “composter” stamped and validated! There is a little yellow machine after the driver! He told us off – even though he could tell we had no idea, he carried on and then mentioned next time 28 Euro fine!
No tea – as couldn’t get to supermarket!
3 hours on computer trying to get this up to date !
Wondering about tomorrow and trying to get in a language course quickly so I feel I am able to contribute a bit more.
