Woke early as I had a rendezvous with the computer technician at 9:00 to see if he can fix this computer ! But no – I wish the person before me had said there were things wrong with it – Firstly – no battery, so has to be plugged in all the time! Apparently have tried buying other batteries but it seems to be fault with computer!
Secondly – the sound crackles away and sometimes can hardly hear it!
Third – It is very slow and not picking up the wireless in the school – the other laptops do!
I am thinking about how to fix this problem.
Anyway, off to class – at lunch tried to find a library / bibliothèque, unfortunately the one labelled on the map was all the historic documents etc…
After class today there was a “welcome” at 5:30 which included drink (O.J.) and nibbles and was to let other students meet each other. I met an English teacher (American) who told me where to find a library but also said he might bring some books from home for me to borrow – very nice. I stayed for about 40 minutes then made my way to the bus stop – as I was waiting a motorcade came through with about 5 armoured trucks and many police escorts. A man standing at the bus kindly offered an explanation in English – brand new banknotes were arriving. Any way this was enough to throw the buses out, as it is very narrow old streets and the armoured vehicles were in the way.
So went for a walk to another bus stop that hopefully wasn’t affected. Managed to get home about 7:15!
Tea was interesting – in a mad rush yesterday to get some groceries I picked up a breast of chicken. However when I got it out tonight, it read dinde not poulet, so not sure what it was I raced for the dictionary, turns out it was turkey breast! Thankfully something not too unusual! Not like the mince that you eat raw – it is in the supermarket, right beside the other mince and is very popular apparently. As much as I love my meat – that is going too far!
C’est tout pour le soir.

Hi Tiffany
Have just spent a very fruitful hour reading your blog- wow-you are good!!!
You sound very much as I felt during my first week. Those phone calls were great but also very upsetting.
It sounds as though you are becoming more and more familiar with the french way - thats what your experience is all about!
Isn't the food gorgeous! The flavours are so yummy.
And the buildings- you can probably guess that I'm drop dead jealous!!!
I hope you manage to sort out the teaching business. However on the positive side, you will meet lots of french teachers now and you'll be able to get to know them on a professional basis as well as social.
Now that I've found your blog I'll keep reading. Peter and I are of to OZ on tuesday for 10 days. Can't wait!!
Love and best wishes
Ann Conder
