Jobs in Town

lundi le premier septembre:

Pouring with rain – thunder storms in the evening. Up about 9:30 then had baguette and pain du chocolat for breakfast. Caught the bus into town to do jobs – bus pass 35Euros for the month, only do them on first of month.
CLA – Language school – To find out that a 1 month intensive course starts today and probably too late to get on – Told to come back tomorrow.
Umbrella – Need one here – apparently it rains a lot – Well blow me away with the price – cheapest I could find -20 Euro ranging up to 75Euro – ($40 -150) needless to say they stayed there! Even the umbrellas are fashion items – lovely design choice for the price.
Key Cut - $16 NZ What!!
Had lunch in town, it had very yummy local regional mushrooms which was sort of spongey but oh so delicious! Started to rain and he was very polite about getting us into the dry.
Shoe repair place is called a cordonnerie – Wendy broke her shoes. Everything over here is specialised and quaint.
Supermarket – Now what an experience trying to find laundry powder, nail polish remover etc… Hard to tell what is in those packets and bottles! Got enough groceries for us for Euros 30.
Tea was a 2.50 bottle of red –Chateau Le Grand Boios – Bergerac along with salad, bread, cheese and ham. Pretty much every meal consists of bread and cheese.

Rang a lady about a furnished apartment – found out it was around the corner so went for walk to suss it out. Arranged to have a look tomorrow at 11. It is in a huge apartment complex mot far from school for girls and in between the college and Lycee.
Have not heard anything from the teachers at the Lycee today or yesterday. Very nervous about what they expect as on Saturday kept hinting and implying we are there to teach English and one teacher even told me “Do not speak French at all to the students – just English!”
Spent the evening -3 hours on computer trying to catch up on blog and dairy. Reflecting about feelings and events.
The phone calls and contact from home is so invaluable – missing my family immensely – seems like such a long time until they come. Feelings can wave over you and makes you incredibly lonely – I am lucky I am not here on my own it would have been very depressing and quite disillusional. Wendy is great, her French is so much better and she can sort me out! Luckily she is here as she is my support network for the moment.
