mercredi le 10 septembre

Well the day started off with another reliever – after class I went to see a double bed for sale – it will be fine, just got to get it here! The couple who were selling it are a surgeon and nurse who are off to Cameroon to train doctors in surgery. They have been here 9 months and have been full time intensive at CLA for this whole time – I couldn’t do it!

Got home about 6:30, a beautiful night, and quickly changed and headed back into town for tea and to go to a free international music concert. It is a very music based city, has a very esteemed music academy and has some music thing each month!
Last night in the place de la revolution – the Czech Philharmonic orchestra played to a huge crowd! We got there early and nabbed a table at a restaurant right beside the entertainment!

What an education and comedy of the night! First of all - tables were really full obviously – so we waited and waited and waited for service – the 2 serving were a boy with really crossed eyes and we were not sure where he was looking, and 1 girl. As it was really hard to get to tables they kept going around the outside and not to anyone in middle! It took us 50 minutes till we got a drink! Wendy ordered a Monaco beer, which remarkably is bright red! I had the tap beer – 1.80€
While we had his attention we also ordered! While we were waiting however – an older couple with a dog arrived, took the table beside us and shifted it up closer to the orchestra and just plonked themselves down in front of others! Then proceeded to chain smoke, Wendy reckoned they had about 15 smokes each before our tea, while their dog yapped! When the dog yapped they were really mean – pinching its skin, holding its mouth, hitting, kicking and being nasty! It was horrible to watch, there really was no point bringing the dog to something like that, it had about 30 cm of lead to walk anywhere!

Then, another 2 ladies arrived with their own food, sat down and ate it, then when the guy finally came, asked him to take their rubbish and got 1 drink! Would never do that in NZ take own food to a restaurant.

Another couple took chairs and table from neighbouring restaurant and put it in our restaurant right in front of everyone else!
Amazingly no one says anything – not the restaurant they took the table from, which stops diners from eating there, nor did the restaurant we were at say anything! – Very weird! We couldn’t believe the cheek of people!
The orchestra was good, we left a little early, about 5 minutes, as we were scared we wouldn’t get seat on bus! At night the bus only goes 1 every hour or so, so didn’t want to miss it!
Home about 10:30 pm!
