Well – must have been the calm before the storm with all the beautiful weather – woke up to a lot of snow and it was still snowing! Yikes! The car was up the steep narrow lane – the wood was out in the snow and we are meant to leave tomorrow! It wasn’t snowing when we went to bed about 1am but by 9:00 we had 20cm of snow! Out of bed we leapt and went to get the wood into the woodshed and the car down the lane before it was ice and maybe deeper. We also know why the guy next door on Xmas night decided to stack his huge pile finally.
I really was worried about Nev trying to reverse down the lane in the snow – we had snow tires but I don’t think this is what they were intended to do. I nervously watched him inch down the lane and hoped he wouldn’t slide into a building, stone wall or over the edge at the bottom.
Fingers crossed and holding my breath worked as he did it with no harm done.
The wood was then very quickly stacked inside and in the woodshed.
In fact it wasn’t really cold and the snow was dry and fluffy. The girls went out and made a snowman and had a snowball fight. By the afternoon the snow had stopped falling and the sun was trying to break through and some snow was melting – whew! A massive game of Monopoly was the order of the day and it went on for at least 6 hours.
So we did get a white boxing day – which really was perfect timing.
